Congrats, Orley, and great job on the cleanup! I saw that one as well and also didn't notice the swirly acrylic stem. Nice touch.

Elliot made a lot of standard shapes but also some unique ones too. He seemed to like chunky fill your hand type of pipes. And yes he hand selected each block with the grain in mind. Using Algerian briar if memory serves. The stem on your pipe is darker than most of what I’ve personally seen, but I like it. Nice pick at $55. And from the cake and slobber must be a great smoker. Enjoy!

That's a beauty! Nice find, I love the shape! Great job on the clean up, too!
I own a few of Elliot's pipes and know him since the Wilke days in NYC. Sadly, as far as I can tell, he's no longer an active pipe maker, that's not to say we have heard the last of him but who knows.
Here's Elliot's last two locations in Manchester, VT. I used go up there each fall.
This was his first location on Rt.7A:

...and his last shop which no longer exists:

@skaukatt: Thanks for posting those pics! Nice to see where he's been in the past, looks like nice scenic places.
Indeed, Orley, Manchester, VT. and the surrounds are really beautiful. Used to go up from NYC each fall to enjoy the foliage. Elliot's was a definite visit on the schedule. Both shops were nice, the first being my favorite and the better one both by location and size. The shop shared its confines with Filson gear which was also pretty cool to browse through.
Gone for good, sadly!

I stopped by the Smokin' Trout in 2013. Great little shop. Sadly, no new Nachwalter pipes were for sale. Only a few estates -- all of which had putty fills. (Elliott was never shy about making smooths with fills, and although I love his pipes I usually avoid those.)
They had some jars with Wilke blends for sale, although the guy behind the counter told me they were just re-labeled Lane blends (he showed me the bags!). A little disappointing, but it was a fun stop nonetheless.
