This guy smoked Rustica straight and inhaled it:
I began to feel a blissful clarity, an acuity that I had never felt from tobacco before. I looked around me, and up into the elm branches and the wispy cirrus clouds in the sky, and was very pleased. Everything was more real, and very nice. My vision was 'larger', and brighter. I also became a little nauseous, but I think water would have helped with that. I got on the rope swing that hangs from the elm, and enjoyed life quite a bit for a few minutes. The blissful clarity subsided rather quickly, but it is conducive, I think, to a mindset that could be very good, at least if used in moderation.

Erowid! LOL. Never had that experience. Rustica or not. I get more clarity from a glass or two of absinthe.
Another looksy at these vaults and you will run across Salvia Divinorum. Now that shit is a trip. I saw the hand of God reaching through the roof of my house. Last about 3 minutes tops. Leaves quite a headache, but enough of the jovial, no need to crash this thread.
Confidence is what I get from pipe tobacco, and maybe some clarity. St. Nick's a stimulant, so these effects are expected.

I've got to get me some of that.
My experience was a little more intense. A couple decades ago, I was out of smokes so I stop by a friend's house and the roommate had a pipe laying there. The roommate wasn't a druggie, so I knew there wasn't anything illegal in the pipe and went about trying to get resin hits. The large bent billiard briar warmed up quickly and gurgled loudly. My friend said the guy never cleaned it and was at a loss as to how to handle the problem. Too bad this forum wasn't around then for him to learn to use a friggin' pipe cleaner.
I was getting huge billowing clouds of blue/white smoke and the taste was pleasant enough, considering it was tarry nicotine juice. I don't know how many hits I had over a ten to fifteen minute period, but it was easily over thirty, and inhaled deeply. I was hardcore in those days and knew my Native ancestors smoked plenty strong stuff. I had a cold glass of water and left.
As I stepped out into the humid, summer night air, I could tell I ingested a great deal of nicotine. I started getting a ringing in my ears from my tinnitus, which quickly stopped. The silence was amazing. I could hear every sound of every bug and critter, every car and stereo, my breathing and my heartbeat. The more amazing thing was I could see things really far away clear as a bell, even with my glasses off. Then I threw up effortlessly and with no warning or sickness.
I'd heard strong tobacco was used for hunting sometimes and this experience clinched that idea for me. Though it was VERY dark, I could still make everything out. I had a clarity and stillness of mind difficult to apprehend to this day. I have not attempted to reproduce it, since I don't like puking. It lasted about an hour, more or less. It was a very cool experience and I'll remember to pay respect and be more ceremonial about it, if I ever attempt such a thing again.
