So I'm thinking about trying to make a pipe and I'm wondering in anyone has any advice, help, encouragement, or references to sites or books to let me know what I need and where I can get it. I'm new to pipe smoking but I'm pretty good with my hands and it just looks like a lot of fun. Thanks in advance for any help.

Best advice ?

www.pipemakersforum.com It doesnt get any better than that, everything you could need to know.

Just dont ask simple questions without searching the forum first.

They're a lot of fun, but they dont tolerate stupid!

Lonestar, if you're on pipemakersforum, could you ask if someone would approve my application. I registered but cannot enter the forums.

Did you email the webmaster after reading the ''Before joining, read this'' topic?

marmal4de has got it. Theres a sticky about it on the top of the forum, if you dont send an email, you dont get approved. Its to cut back on spam.

My username is Edward over there.

JB, we're not nearly as anal about searching first, on most things anyway.

Over there, they attack like a pack of wolves on a 3 legged rabbit

I have to highly recommend Pipe Makers Emporium. Carolyn is a fantastic lady, and the products are top quality.

I have to agree with Uncle Arthur. I've ordered stems from pipe makers emporium, and got a high level of customer service. Got a personal call to answer a question about the order, and Carolyn spent about 5 minutes on the phone just chatting, answering even the dumbest questions I had. Top Notch!

As far as answering the same questions here, the difference is that theres tons of members and lots of new members all the time. Over there its a small group and the same guys get same questions over and over again. I think here its not as bad because the answers to your question may be totally different than when someone asked a year ago.

There are lots of great videos on YouTube as well. Check out Jeff Gracik's videos; he's a true master.

Those are pretty awesome buckeye, I'm thinking it'll take a while until I get something to look like those. Those were all pre bored blocks?

If I had any ability or experience working with my hands I'd love to try making pipes, I am happy enjoying the fruits of everyone else's labour for now.

I think that's probably the place for me to start then. Thank you all for the advice. Marmal4de I have very little ability and no experience so if I pull it off I'll let you know.

Awesome. I think I think I can afford to swing that to get started. I'm sure I'll be bugging buckeye and everyone else with more questions along the way. :D
