I live on a small sailboat, so I usually smoke up in the cockpit, or on deck if the weather is nice. I love the smell of pipe smoke, but I don't want everything I own to start smelling like last week's tobacco.

i prefer to smoke indoors, but my parents dont allow it. however my dad has a garage/studio/workshop/mancave in which he allows smoking, so if its windy, rainy or snowy, i just go in there

I like the outdoors. When it's raining I like to sit outside, under an overhang of course, and just chill out.

If I made the rules, anything but dip would be okay, including chew. (Its the snorting dip users make that really gets me above all else) -- but I don't, so nasal snuff only for me, and dip for the old ... pick your favourite male derogatory for the bloke that woman married. . ..

When I was at college I was moving apartments every year, all shitty so I freely smoked inside, even leaving the windows closed when it was cold. I moved back home recently and am living in my parent's basement which they converted to an apartment for my sister to live in for a while when she got out of college. LUCKILY, my rents are accepting of my pipe smoking, and allow it down here, but I respectfully keep the windows open at all times, even in the Chicago cold, and frequently use candles, air fresheners, clean carpet, etc. Haven't cleaned walls yet but likely will at least once before I'm off to Grad School. I keep the cigars outside tho because I've found they skunk up a room something fierce and quickly too!

While on the topic --- Anyone from NW Chicago Subs?
I will happily travel into the city to smoke in the Iwan Ries Lounge, but sometimes can't block out enough time to make the 3hrs round trip and $15 day fee worth it.....Any Other indoor smoking lounges around?

I always dedicate one room to pipe smoking. If you do sell the house you can always blast that room with a coat of a bin type primer and then put 2 good coats of paint on it. Small price to pay, in my opinion, for the ability to smoke inside. I rather enjoy room note while smoking. I do tend to smoke my English outside in the colder months when I can't keep the windows open. I love Latakia as much as the next guy, but it can funkify a room in a hurry.

Do the air purifiers I've seen people talk about on here help prevent the need to clean the walls? If so then I'd be all about dedicating a room to it.

For the vast majority of the time I smoke indoors and that will never change, if its a nice cool beautiful day I do enjoy a pipe on my front porch every once and a while.

@ pipetrucker: Bravo! That's holding your ground against those fake cougher jerks.
As for my house, my granddad smoked in it... my dad smoked in it... and by god, I will smoke in it. Only an occasional cigar leaves any odor the next day. (Used pipe cleaners are the biggest olfactory issue. I dispose of mine in the covered kitchen trash can.)

I am blessed, my wife let's me smoke inside and I do, both pipes and cigars. My wife doesn't object and says she likes the smell.
