My sister likes to give me a tin of tobacco for my birthday, and this year she added a MM straight hardwood maple pipe. This one was set up for filters, but it smokes well, and with a more open draw, without the filter. I've been tempted by these for years, but with a cabinet and three racks of pipes, I try not to add to the herd that often. It turns out this is a fine little cooker, with a large enough bowl, and a simple design reminiscent of Danish Modern furniture, pleasing to look at, extremely light weight, and a fine smoke. If you've looked at these and judged from the price that they weren't much, think again. And if you want to keep several on hand for guests or friends who might want to try a pipe, the price is right. But just selfishly, for the rack, I highly recommend these.

I think my MM hardwood pipe is old enough is was marketed as cherry, but the new ones just say hardwood.

It’s an excellent smoker, but it might be made of any number of seasoned hardwoods MM buys, probably for shank material. When I visited the factory floor, all the stems were purchased made of amber plastic, black rubber, or lucite acrylic, but all the hardwood shanks, and of course the cobs, were manufactured on site. I assume the hardwood pipes are as well.

The Rob Roy hardwood is still about $8

The hardwood pipes didn’t make the recent Missouri Life article.

When I was a kid all Missouri Meerschaum products seemed to be purchased by younger smokers who used them up and bought another.

Old codgers smoked briars, like we still do today.:)

I wish somebody that knew more could tell us what hardwood is used in the MM hardwood pipes.

About the only thing that’s really changed about a Missouri Meerschaum is today it’s considered a investment.:)

I've bought cobs as yard and car pipes, but once I start smoking them, they graduate to "permanent party," as they used to say of the permanent crew of a ship. It turns out the hardwood are in this same league. They just happen to be extra good pipes at decidedly low prices. The home spun aspect of them has always been a plus to me.

I'm sorry to hear MM has gotten into the bong business, if that's the right term, weed pipes. If it keeps them in business to turn out the classic cobs and hardwoods, I guess that's business. I'll be disappointed if that's the first thing that comes up on their pipe page.

The name Humansville makes people say Oh Dude, are there any humans there-huh huh huh.

Well now that medical marijuana is legal here in Missouri the largest grow house for medical grade Mary Jane in Missouri and maybe the world, has a Humansville address. The city of Humansville is very proud to be able to help all those sick folks get some medicine for what ails them.

FLORA FARMS

I always thought the very religious folks that frowned on smoking, and drinking, gambling and staying out late at night would oppose medical marijuana but with all the money that huge cultivation barn the size of an enclosed airport is spreading around Humansville, they seem to have found a friend in Mary Jane, and besides it’s for medicinal use only. I understand it costs a hundred dollars for a medical weed card, and they make edibles for folks who don’t want to inhale.

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

I’m going to hold back on getting my weed card.

If I liked Mary Jane as well as I do tobacco I’d be high all the time.

I wonder if they market a Gaslilight equivalent.

That would be some potent medicine.

Maybe in the future we’ll have to get a tobacco card, for clearing our sinuses with latikia rich blends, and other medical use of tobacco.:)
