Im generally more a fan of 'natural' tasting tobacco blends with any flavorings far in the background (well, with the exception of Haddo's). But I make a once-in-awhile exception for Barbary Coast. Right now is one of those whiles. I wouldn't want to smoke this every day but what a nice change of pace. It also mated beautifully with a pipe I otherwise had no use for, so it's a win/win. Such a unique combination of flavors. I would also think this would serve as a 'crossover' aromatic for those Aro smokers looking to try a bit more in terms of flavor and complexity.
Any other fans out there?

Been on my radar for a long time. This post may be responsible for me pulling the trigger on a tin ha ha ha. I don't generally care for aromatics because, though I enjoy the aromatic element, they seem to fall flat as a tobacco. I keep a few Boswells around and every now and then sprinkle just a bit into a bowl full of Hamborger Veermaster, Dunhill Flake, Fribourg And Treyer Cut Virginia Plug and other high quality Virginias and I find it very enjoyable. Always searching for a good aromatic with great smoking characteristics to match that charming aroma ha ha ha.

Barbary Coast is one of my favorites as well. Very under rated IMHO

Barbary Coast is burley based, with some red Virginia and a dash of Perique. The topping is brandy. The tin describes the flavor profile as containing "hints of black walnut, dark chocolate, and dried fruits." To me the tin note is of candied Christmas fruits. But as Roth said, don't mistake this for an aromatic. Or, rather, this is maybe what an good aromatic should be: a more solid backbone of quality tobacco top-noted with something unique and interesting for a change of pace. Like I said earlier, probably a good crossover.

Duckfat, it's advertised and described as cube cut and is, in fact, cube cut. Obviously to each his own :) But are you confusing this blend with another thinking it was billed as ribbon cut?
