The positive aspect of the brylon pipe in this thread didn't last. But then again I didn't expect it to. Still it's nice to hear something positive about it. Thanks for sharing tuold.

I'll admit, the whole brylon thing has scared me away form what otherwise would've been good deals. After hearing of your positive experience, I may have to reconsider if the price is right. There are occasions when it would be nice to have something even more expendable than a cob.

kb7get, don't be dissuaded. If you smoke Brylons and like them, tell us about it. Sure you'll get a lot of

flak, but we don't go anywhere if we all just sit around agreeing with each other. And yes, Brylon pipes

are being made in quantities, by Medico and Yello-Bole, among others, and many sites that sell those

brands seem to have only Brylon pipes in inventory, so there is a sustaining demand for them. Maybe some

of the Brylon smokers could give the rest of us some pointers on smoking them. We won't necessarily get

right online and buy one, but it will help us get the hang of how they satisfy some pipe smokers. I don't

think the Forums members are snobs. We have people here who only collect high end artisanal pipes, but

others smoke mostly cobs, and most of my rack is low and mid-level pipes, and all seem to get a hearing.

So let there be a Brylon caucus. Of course you'll get flak, but you get flak for posting at all, so relax.

...and if you want to pull the chain of the anti-Brylon folks, be sure to post about smoking your Brylon

in the "What Are You Smoking" thread on a regular basis. I think some really high-end tobacco would

make the point.

Never have bought a brylon pipe. But if someone will send me one, I will smoke it. And if it smokes nice, I will put it in my rotation.
Certainly been some crappy briars that have come in and out the door around here.

The fifth pipe down was a Medico brylon that came with a recent lot I purchased. It is being cleaned now. I don't know that I will smoke it much but it is a handsome devil. I may keep it as a wall hanger, kind of like a crummy shotgun in the den that looks good but may not shoot well anymore. I like the point that it is a piece of history. Consider it like the Nixon tapes. We wouldn't throw them away even if they don't reflect kindly on his tenure.
