When it comes to Marxman pipes, it is fair to state that for one special person reality definitely gives way to perception. And apparently perception isn’t worth Jack sh$t. Lol
At least it's not PlatoYou will find the answer you seek in the writings of Socrates.
When you sleep, others can observe as well as electronics. Just because you're unconscious doesn't mean reality ceases to exist. But what do I know? I'm just a fig newton of your alls imagination. There is no reality without perception. The world disappears when you're asleep and the only reality then is what you dream.
So, they could have good pipe tobacco? There are, however, two trillion galaxies in the Universe, each of which consists of 150(ish) billion stars, many of which are orbited by planets.
How many of those planets are home to creatures that have senses we can't---by definition---even imagine? And who thereby see, experience, and process a reality that has zero overlap with ours but is equally real?

Like…whoa, dude.OK...
Animals on Earth evolved senses that aided their survival in a specific environment. Full stop.
For humans, that environment was rolling equatorial plains inhabited by tasty critters.
Only recently (in relative terms) did humans expand their territory into other environments.
The point? Human perception is limited to and defined by that handful of "purpose built" senses.

It's always 42.This is all well and good but the question still remains. If a reality falls in the forest and no one is there to perceive it, is the answer still 42?
