I have a question for you guys. Do any of you smoke Latakia? If so what blend should I try and what does it taste like?

Seadogontheland, the only non aromatic I've smoked is a straight Virgina mix. It was ok, but probably needs some Burley and oriental.

Two introductions to Latakia I think would please someone who has smoked mostly aromatics would be Mac Baren's Latakia Flake, which also may be your introduction to flake, but is a mild but truly tasty blend, and Nat Sherman's 536, a tinned loose tobacco that is one of the most refined mild Latakia blends. Individual tastes vary enormously, but many Forums members enjoy those blends.

Latakia? What's it taste like? I wish I could articulate exactly what it does really taste like but for me, the best description I can give is sometimes woody, sometimes earthy or mushroom like, sometimes chocolate covered cashews. It depends on how it's presented in the blend and what pipe I'm possibly smoking. I'm terrible at communicating flavor nuances most times but Latakia and it's many faces has eluded my ability to really tell someone what it might taste like. Big help, I know.

The most common response I give folks who ask is that it can be reminicent of steak with steak sauce or grilled steak and mushrooms. Who doesn't like the sound of that? Vegan's maybe? :)

Latakia is smoke cured leaf...smoky flavor but has to be experienced...try some and see what you think.

Welcome back. When I was an English smoker, one of my favorite blends was Two Friends Deacon's Downfall. It was just a sublime smoke with 5 different tobacco's in it which made for a very complex smoke. Give it a shot.

On the gentle side, you could try dunhill early morning', then follow with dunhill 965 for a slightly more richer experience
Black house is a favorite of mine from the marquise series of h & h
Just picked up some plum cake from the Seattle club mix- a new favorite.
So many many to choose from
