I think I could get by, in terms of a basic variety, with:
Lane 1Q

Haddos Delight

Orlik Golden Flake

Ruins of Isengard
of course this is a very personal list, based upon my tastes and experience only.
The Lane would be the primary smoker
Haddos, in a small bowled pipe, when I needed a new experience
The Orlik is really just a nice mild and easy smoke, similar to the Lane in those characteristics. Good for when you want a mellow smoke, but just not the Lane.
The Isengard is really nice to kick back with when sipping on whiskey.

Mine will be similar to Lawrence and some others' lists.
1. Lane 1-Q for the aforementioned reasons

2. Villiger 1888 Mid Day since it is my favorite blend.

3. Rattray's Bagpiper's Dream because the flavors here are excellent.

4. W.O. Larsen Signature Vintage Mixture for a light fruit flavored blend.

5. Mac Baren Vanilla Cream Flake because it tastes like it smells which is phenomenal!

6. Dunhill My Mixture 965 for an excellent change from the first 5.

7. Escudo Navy De Luxe for an excellent VaPer.

8. Mac Baren 7 Seas Regular for another pleasant smoke, but really ANY of the 7 Seas series would work.

9. Peter Stokkebye English Luxury for a zestier English/Latakia blend than #6.

10. G.L Pease Barbary Coast for another outstanding flavored blend.

I really like the blend of 50/50 McClelland 5110 and PS Balkan Supreme. It never bites and is just a great all around combo IMHO. Give it a try...... seriously (for balkan/english lovers) :)

1. McClelland Three Oaks Syrian-the tastiest tobacco ever, IMHO

2. Orlik Gold Sliced-A simple, good quality, light smoke

3. Bobs Chocolate Flake-No other flavor like it, again, IMHO

4. Cornell and Diehl Autumn Evening-So as not to piss off the non smokers who happen to be around me

5. McClelland AM Pipe-Extra sweet and mild smoke

6. Balkan Sasieni-A good quality, very mild alternative to 3 Oaks Syrian

7. Captain Black Royal- The very first tobacco I ever smoked.

Tinderbox 1928 reserve, which is a mild smoke. Penzance, flavorful and strong. My local B&M sells Bogafalya Blend, which is light and has a fruit room note. MacBarren has a really good vanilla that I like because the taste is as vanilla as the smell. Lastly, an English, like Dunhill 965 or Edwards Special Balkan, which I think are good all day blends at a reasonable price.
Peterson Irish Oak would be my alternate for the Tinderbox 1928. I only have about 20 tins of other stuff on hand yet to try, and a list of some dozen more yet. TAD. :puffy:

Ok, lets see if I can keep this to under ten blends...
1) MacBaren HH Vintage Syrian; a wonderful change from my usual Cyprian Latakia blends

2) Dunhill Nightcap; for when I need some Latakia in my life

3) Captain Earles Ten Russians; for when I need ALOT of Latakia in my life

4) Peterson University Flake; for those Aromatic moments

5) McClelland St. James Woods; my favourite VaPer

6) McClelland Blakney's Best Baked Bayou Slice; the first VaPer I "got", will always have a place in my rotation because of this

7) McClelland PCCA Tudor Castle; a change from the usual VaPer

8) Dunhill Navy DeLuxe Rolls; a nice clean smoking flavour

9) Balkan Sasieni; for when I am in the mood for something mild

10) Amphora Original Blend; my "fire and forget" smoke
Honourable mention should also go to...

Capt. Earles Stimulus Package

Peterson Irish Flake

Cool Hand Fluke

H&H Butternut Burley

Dunhill Std. Mixture

Dunhill EMP and more than a few others...

To my original 5 I would have to add the following to round it out to 10
Gold Blend- a great aromatic from Peterson. Mostly a vanilla casing with a bit of hickory nut and a pinch of cinnamon added.
Eileen's Dream
- It's a great blend by CAO. It has chocolate truffles and Irish cream casings and is a great early morning smoke with a coffee or an evening smoke with a glass of Baileys on the rocks.
Vanilla Cream (loose cut)- A great blend to please the Mrs. with. Has a wonderful full flavor of vanilla. Tastes great and has a great room note.
Luxury Blend- yet another great aro from Peterson. A casing of orange, vanilla, and honey makes for a wonderful flavoring.
University Flake
- a great flake by Peterson. Mostly Va/Burley blend in flake form with a hint of plum casing. Wonderful smoke, but be warned it's a little higher on the nicotine than other blends.
