I have two Czech pipe tools buried on my desk, a couple of inherited pipe tools from long ago deceased members of the Condor family. I've lost one pipe tamper in 1986 that I got from my Father which was some weird East German three in one deal that fitted in a tube. So I would have to say 'knock on wood' my losses wouldn't even pay for a trip to my local pub!

I wouldn’t have much money, I don’t think I’ve ever lost a pipe tool/tamper and I have a lot of em. I think there’s a pipe nail or Czech tool in the pocket of every jacket or coat that I own.

I would love to own one, they are gorgeous - but I would have to use it and it is worth more than any of my pipes.
I have one of their traditional pocket knives I actually picked up in Thiers.
Honestly a lot of you just confirm what I think I must do, buy a bunch of Czech tools and leave them in my smoking spots, that way hopefully there will just be one for me to find
Never lost a single one of 'em. If I misplaced them, I'll search the whole house until I find it. Not that they are expensive, well there are one or two, but I hate losing things.

Functionally useless, the blade has no edge and the square tamping surface can't make much contact with the walls of the chamber.

Plus, they're rather expensive and almost always sold out.
I got that one from Laguiole's site a few years ago when they were still under $200. They offer blade engraving now.
Since I never go with a standard Czech tool it would be nothing. Now cheap ass pipes nail, eh maybe a $100.
@Chasing Embers : Now I know what it is I can take that off my 'fucket' list of pipe 'stuff' I don't need to buy! Thank you for the visual. It really does look like the way you describe it. Non-Utilitarian as my late Father would have described it!

That's a pity, I appreciate the insight. The pocketknife is very good, a little flashy but as good as my Gerber that I take to work.
Your pipe collection deserves the Laguiole pipe knife! Let it free from it's box.
