I can recall a couple of years ago being enamored with Savinelli's Miele line. I think this pipe not only exemplifies the je ne sais quoi of that design that entranced me so, but in fact, takes it a step further even. Plus, I freaking love the Belge shape. Beautiful pipe! Enjoy it in happiness and good health.

Several weeks ago I posted pics of some Peterson "re-issue antiques" that had been given modern stems to achieve the best of both worlds: Mega Old School design & appearance, but rugged and comfortable to smoke.

My favorite oldie design---the clay pattern belge---was rarely produced by anyone in briar, though, never mind reproduced by Peterson. And the occasional legit oldie that survived was always quite small and had that bone connector thing to deal with.

The solution? Ask your friend who's a pipe maker to cut you a moder-size stummel, then stem and finish it yourself, of course. puffy

I'm mentioning all this because the pipe has been sitting in my rack a couple years unsmoked, waiting for the right moment to fire it up, and that moment has arrived.

What's it gonna be? Half Kendal Kentucky and half Brown Bogie (cut to match), thoroughly mixed and carefully packed.

🤔 I seen quite a few "collaboration" pipes with that same mark on em, but they were all half finished... I even called the proverbial "dibs" on one. I suspect it'll be done sometime in the next few years. I may need to keep gently prodding the carver. :)
