I ventured out onto the ice on a local lake today and took my pipe along. I drilled a few holes and caught a few fish. There was no wind. I found that my pipe makes a great companion.

I recommend a Zippo pipe lighter when going outdoors as it is a fool-proof (me being the fool) lighter.

I smoked some Billy Budd and had a great day. No tobacco police were present.

Sounds like a fun, peaceful day! It also sounds like a poem if you rearrange it a bit. :puffy:

Sounds like a great day indeed! I have a fishing trip planned with my brother in law this coming summer, I'm already jazzed and buying tobacco and some cobs to be prepared

Sounds like a great time to smoke a pipe. I used to do some ice fishing as a kid, but it has been many decades. My big David Jones Poker is my campfire pipe, I can see smoking something like that out on the ice, a big mitt-full of briar.

Awesome, I've been thinking about that a lot recently. My dad has a nice little ice shack with a little wood heater, I've just wanted to go and light up a pipe while fishing in there, the idea sounds so great and relaxing.

There was an ice fisher in Idaho

Who smoked Billy Budd and he smoked real slow

Though the fish bite was slowin

The smoke po-po weren't showin

So he figured it's still not quite time-to-go.

Not much ice fishing here in Texas, but pipe smoking would also be perfect for surf fishing. Cast your rods out and go sit in the truck and hang out. When one starts jigglin', go reel it in. Could have used a pipe in my surf fishing days, except I was 11 and couldn't smoke :)

That 6 lb. Rainbow you see to your left was through the ice. Still itchin' to catch one of them 30 lb. Lakers up at Granby. Think I'd smoke a cobb though, too much winds up going down the hole. Can't imagine how many cell phones and sunglasses are on the lake bottom!
