English Blends like sweat, gun solvent, and engine grease are man smells. Ladies will say we stink but they still love us. Our best smokes are those that are companion turn offs. It's a given so get with the program and hang with your buddies. As long as we pay the bills and perform in bed we are keepers. Better men than a guy who smokes a pipe don't inhabit this planet. Pack a large bowl and smoke the hell out of it. Best to my brothers.

Well said Mjtannen....
A good English doesn't have to contain Latakia or Perique, although most of my blends have one or the

other, or both. An English to me smells like a pot of purple-hull peas simmering, my leather razor

strop, a camp fire stoked with red oak, or even my dad's old flight jacket. An English to me brings

back memories of things I've forgotten, but just can't grasp.... but I love trying to remember just

what it was.

Man I'm loving Balkans/English blends MORE and MORE! My favorite ones so far are Sunrise Smoke, Ambassador's Blend, and a new blend from a tobacconist in Vallejo. I'd tell you the name of it, but it doesn't have a name yet. I can say that it has a wonderfully plain and spicy note to it, and an old time flavor, which I really love. Just ordered some Black House the other day, and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Black House isn't super complex, but it is solid and consistent and to me is like comfort food. That's why I like it so much. I had some yesterday after smoking aros and VA for a while and the smell of the open jar was like oooh yeah!

Yes, also called the mother in-law blend. Helps keep them motivated to not stay too long.
Do you know the difference between in-laws, and out-laws? ................ Out-laws are wanted.

I don't know why I haven't been smoking my latakia blends lately. After reading this thread I had to have a bowl of Seattle Evening.
Thanks, guys, for reminding me how good the "Stinky Stuff" is. :)

Last night I cleaned my pipes real good, and loaded up a bowl of a new Balkan blend from the bay area. I don't know why that bowl was so good, but I've been enjoying the hell out of my pipes. I've smoked about 15-20 bowls of Balkan blends since then.
EDIT: +1 Philip!
