The After Hours used to be seen as sort of the red-headed stepchild of the pipe world, but they've slowly been getting their own niche collectors. Unsmoked After Hours always seem to be priced very high. I suspect an After Hours, Distinction pipe is slightly more valuable than a plain After Hours. Here's the Charatan grading chart:

This unsmoked "Executive" grade After Hours pipe went for $457 on Ebay, so who knows!
It is interesting that the acrylic extensions start out white!

I got the Charatan in today and it is awesome looking. I smoked some Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake in it and it practically smoked it self. It smoked cool and dry and the tobacco tasted great. This is definitely a keeper. I am totally happy with my purchase. The Dunhill won't be here for another few days coming from England and all. I will report once it hits.

That second pipe you posted makes me want to cry it is so beautiful. If you don't mind I would like to save a pic of it.

Charatan After Hours pipes are actually short shanked pipes with great bowls and rather than discard the pipes Charatan used the white acrylic extension and stamped "After Hours" on the extension. They are quite sought after by Charatan Collectors, including myself. The smoking qualities are as excellent IMO as any other high grade Charatan pipe. As for the double stamping on the Distinction it will not affect the collector value at all. What you have is a very fine example and I'm sure you will treasure the pipe for sure. Congrats on two fine acquisitions.

@photoman, be my guest, those pics are from ebay so they are available to anyone.
@docwatson, thanks for the info and all the help you have given me in my education of the Charatan line. With 2 Charatans in the house and three more on the way, my collection is beginning.
Al, thanks for the pic. I didn't know that After Hours are also made in sandblasted versions. Now I will be on the lookout for those as well.

Well finally the Dunhill arrived yesterday. I thought it was surely lost but I guess it took the slow boat from London. The shank and stem were pretty filthy on this even thought the pipe on the outside looked pristine. This is the second pipe I have bought from these guys and both were filthy. I am smoking some Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye flake in it and it is performing great. The pipe is smoking cool and dry and the blend tastes great. Definitely a keeper.
