...and what's with people just giving me a bunch of numbers on a review? I don't even know how to relate to those reviews. If it says "roomnote - 8." What the Hell does an 8 mean, good bad, it smells like 8? I don't get anything at all when people do that. I imagine that they are trying to give people a totally objective review when they do that, but they do nothing for me. I'd rather read that someone doesn't like the blend because of the design on the tin, or that they hate aros but found this one slightly less annoying.

...but an 8, what am I to do with that?

If its just a cat turd in the shape of an 8 I suppose you could smoke that too. Just make sure its not a Starcat turd.

The flavored tobacco, IMHO seem to have more bite than non-flavored.Maybe because the only aromatics I have actually bought were "drug store" brands. I will eventually buy a good brand name and give it a try. One never knows when they will find the perfect aromatic.I guess I am considered a "LL" (Latakia Lover)...

I think the non aro elitism was a problem for me my first year smoking and being in the community. I started on 1Q, but quickly started reading a lot of stuff about the superiority of other blend types. I loved aros, but I felt compelled to smoke other types because I felt like smoking aros made you less of a pipe smoker and less refined. Now in my second year I've said !@#$ off to conforming to what other people think is acceptable to smoke. I know what I like, and that's what I'm smoking. That being said, the stigma did help me find some non aros that I really enjoy.

I'm asking because I'm curious -- Can anyone cite an actual instance of anti-aromatic snobbery or condescension? Not saying it doesn't happen. I've just never seen it.

Thanks for the great review, I'll be sure to stay away from that thread. Have you tried using the fold and stuff method on it? Might improve the aftertaste.

When I first started smoking a pipe, my first two pouches of tobacco were a true value aro that was actually kind of nice, and Captain Black White. And then someone here sent me a few samples of other tobaccos... one of those was Black House and I fell in LOVE with that stuff! I still love it and have tried and fallen in love with other latakia blends. But I still enjoy aros as well. Some are actually quite tasty along with the room note.

I secretly love the look from a pipe snob when they realize im smoking an aro out of one of my dunhills or castellos. Priceless. I've had a decent ammount of people try to "teach" me what tobacco I should smoke, but then again I've also ordered a beer during a wine tasting.
