I stored a lot of loose tobacco in small plastic containers years ago, and now a lot of it is all dried out and smells like the container. I'm looking for advice on what to do - is there a way to resurrect this stuff or do I attribute it to being a neophyte at the time and toss the tobacco? I'm using glass now. Suggestions?

If it were me personally, I'd give a little bit a sample smoke and see if the taste is affected at all...but that would also depend on if it were a nice tobacco or not. If it is easily replaceable, then I'd get rid of it.

I'll second Kanse. If it smells like plastic, it has plasticizers in it. Don't smoke it. Do yourself a favor and buy a new tin or six of stuff you've always wanted to try.

You could put it to a final useful purpose.
Use it around garden vegetables to keep pest bugs away.

Well I am glad I read this. I just blended up some raw tobacco, flavoring rum etc. Have it in a plastic container and was going to leave it in there......now that I have read this if its worth keeping I will put it in a glass jar.

Glass is where it is at for any long term storage. Next best option---- glazed ceramic container so long as it has a rubber seal.
