I Saw a Guy Puffing a Corncob Very Roughly and It Didn't Seem Hot. Why?

The bowl getting hot is more related to the material and thickness of the material. I don't think it is brand specific. Savinelli makes an excellent smoking pipe. If it gets too hot, you probably need to slow down.
I still have a tendency at times to puff too aggressively. I have a few pipes that are less forgiving than others. I like smoking them because the feedback (hot bowl) helps remind me to slow down. My self punishment is to put the pipe down and not start smoking it again until it is completely cooled off.
Cobs do seem to smoke cooler. I wonder if some of that is due to most cobs having smaller bowl capacity? Not sure. But I agree they are very forgiving and I enjoy smoking them. I now have 7 and smoke them with a fair degree of regularity.

"In that case, even a meer would crack getting smoked like that."
My thoughts as well. Dryer, looser, slower!

OP - just get a couple cobs now and slow down the PAD enough to make an informed wise choice on a good briar later. My 2 cents anyway.

Just buy a briar and a cob. Smoke both of them and feel the experiences first hand. I think that's the best method to know which one do you like because everybody have their own preferences :)

Low budget... I'll first buy the briar because I have a very limited budget right now and save the corncob and some accessories for next month.
But definitely will buy both!
EDIT.: Already bought the briar a few hours ago! Expecting the delivery!

First, don't model your pipesmoking from random strangers, that you saw in the street.
Go to Youtube for advice. You are safer if you stick with videos that are related to actual tobacco vendors.
Do some research online on slow smoke contests. These contests are designed to teach smokers how to have the best possible experience. The slower I go, the better the pipe tastes.

Hi, mrmachado, welcome, & don't worry about questions -- as olkofri said, if there's one thing people here are always glad to do it's provide answers!
BTW, a word of explanation about Cosmic -- like all of us he's, shall we say, known for his opinions, one of which is that he's not a huge cob fan, which is why the needling from aldecaker & yoda. :) Don't feel like they're ganging up on him, since for his own part he feels that there are too many "cob thugs," as he calls them, so he gives as good as he gets. ;)

Yeh, ha ha, I think I am the last cob hater. A few others that have spoken out were found in a dumpster in Jersey City.

Cobs are alright, just be careful. They can lead to drinking moonshine, country music, and sleeping with your sister. :puffy:
I'm just kidding... Really, I jest. Not all cob smokers like country music. :puffy:
Ok, where can I hide?

I also inhale all the smoke that I can. I know it's bad for you, but I can't resist. I'm used to it and nothing happens to me (only to my lungs) when I do this, due to smoking 3 pacs of cigs per day in the past.
