^^^^Worry not, Duane; you don't get old bein' no fool. So fret not; you'll survive & be much wiser for it! :)
just have to be darn quick with the internet and have a credit card available for in-stock alerts nowadays.
Even that won't help. If you can't drop the hammer at least half an hour before the announcement you're doin' it rong....
Borkum Riff? Gawd......
Git it & go, folks.... still stuck in the 60s

I try to be deadpan with expectations and give big points to blends/brands that emphasize meeting demand and good distribution. If they can't/won't sell me the product, my dear, I don't give a damn.

I just tried Mc 2015 for the first time today that I bought two years ago and seriously enjoyed. I have only been in this hobby a short time, but it has changed a lot.
My ignorance and curiosity led to me picking up several now out of production tobaccos. I'm just not frustrated at the prospect of missing out on blends anymore and just buy what I can when the opportunity arises.

Even with all the blends that are constantly out of stock these days we are stil in the tobacco renaissance, albeit, the tail end of it. There is a mind numbing amount of available good blends that are on the market as we sit here and mourn the stuff that’s out of stock. It will be truly sad when there aren’t near as many tobaccos to choose from but right now we have an overwhelming choice of blends to choose from. I think we’re just totally spoiled.

My absurd stash of unopened tins and jarred tobacco supports hawky454's statement. It would take me years to get through my current cellar and I'm thrilled to have this problem. And Gaslight is available so all is well in the world.

What’s the significance with 2015?

My reason for choosing 2015 is because it wasn’t that long ago. So much has changed in such a short period of time. That’s rapid for a niche stable hobby like pipe smoking. I mostly smoke with guys older than me and they are always waxing poetically about the good old days of piping. It got me thinking about how much I miss 4 years ago. :puffpipe:

I miss the days when we could sit around on this site and read a post by Harris or Peck about what tobacco they were buying and cellaring and then rush to get it.
So, you were here in 2015 under a different handle? I agree with your sentiments.
bought some Margate yesterday

You're going to really like it. Seems as if Margate is much easier to get as I've shown up late to the party and was able to get it relatively easy after the madness settled down. Bag here, bag there... 2 lbs. in the cellar now.
That's a pretty crap blend.

I was pretty new to piping in 2015, but a few weeks of reading posts I realized that now was the time to start buying.

In 2015, I was just driving to my local B&M and asking the guy behind the counter for something nice. I had never bought tobacco that came in a tin, and in those days, my image of a 'super nice, expensive pipe' was something well under $100.
My smokes are better now that I'm a little more 'refined' in my tastes, but I certainly don't enjoy it any more than I did in my early days.
