I didn't actually taste the cricket, I think. At least, to be clear, I did not bite into the cricket. I bet they taste like peanut butter.

As I recall, very close in texture and taste to pistachios. My memory now tells me fried and not roasted. But, salty, very salty.

Surely the temperature and the incredibly high concentration of smoke in the bowl would have cooked and or suffocated poor lil' Jiminy had he been in the bowl during the smoke.

I smoked (inadvertent invader)(wife is a rose enthusiast) a Japanese Beetle last week... tastes like sushi... even a touch of wasabi. And we thought perique was "spicy"!!
