Hello I just found a pipe in my collection and I'm not sure where I got it. I think I found it at a garage sale. It looks like It was smoked once.

Pipeworks Elliott Nachwalter 82 . Bent free hand smooth with rustic plateau. Can anyone tell me a bit about this pipe?

Other than the great likelihood that it's very good pipe and that finding it at a garage sale is an unusually fortuitous experience there's not much I could say without seeing a pic ...

I can't find a way to inbed photo. The pipe has a very large bowl and a thin shank and stem ...very light weight. The pic i posted does not do it justice.

A very nice looking Elliot Nachwalter. The 82 is the date, 1982, from the period (1981-1988?) that Nachwalter was in New York City as owner/operator of Pipeworks and later Pipeworks & Wilke. The pipe shows the tapering transition between the bowl and shank often seen on pipes from this period. I think of this period in the carvers career as his "classical period". He later returned to VT, and continued to make pipes. His former wife, Carole Burns still sells some very good tobaccos at vtpipes.com. Clean it up, and give it a smoke, I think you will find it's a keeper!
