Ridiculous, right?
However:
What do you do if, after looking at my pictures of this sweet 6 horsepower gem still in its original red paint, calling out to you, you decide you REALLY want it? The constructive thing to do would be to make me an offer. If you were serious about acquiring it, you would probably do it in private.
It never hurts to make an offer. If I get offended, that's stuff going on in my head, not yours, right? I can say yes or no and there's no harm done. To publicly heckle me about how deluded I am trying to get so much for my hot little ride serves no constructive purpose.
I am confused as to why some of us feel obligated to be the "Appropriate Price Police" on people's for sale items? What is it that motivates someone to undermine bomb person's thread trying to sell an item? If they feel so compelled to let the seller know that they are overpriced, they should let them know in a PM. It's the civilized thing to do. Who knows that very same person might have another blend or pipe they want to sell that is exactly what you were looking for but are reluctant to offer it up for sale out of concern of a public verbal flogging and we all miss out.
It's not right.
