Half and Half is not a good representation of burley. It's all about that gross, overly sweet Play Dough topping. Same with Velvet and Paladin.
Maybe it’s the curry powder they put in it. My pouch of Half and Half does make my socks smell kind of nice and exotic. I keep it in my sock drawer of course.
I love Half & Half. To me, it's kinda like the McDonald's of tobacco. Sometimes after eating at good steakhouses for awhile you just get a craving for some junk food.
Turns out it was just operator error, for me. I like half and half, and more burley-heavy codger-ish blends, when I can get them going right. I don't even get the anise or spice notes that others dislike in half and half, although I did spike mine with a dribble of bourbon before packing it in a jar for a while, after the first unpleasant experience.

Oh, I don't know about that. St Bruno is decent, not so sure about Condor - you couldn't call it bland, though. But that's UK OTC (if you can find any retailers selling pipe tobacco in southern England.... grump grump)
Half and Half is not a good blend for my tastes. Whatever topping that is just doesn’t do it for me. It also bites the crap out of me. Plenty of other good blends out there.
Acquired taste. Like Granger. I learned to love beer, whiskey to coffee in my life. Hell, I even love cow small intestines. I still don't like Granger. Half &Half is okay. But prefer Carter Hall, and Capt. Black Royal from codger blends.
Yeah, I haven't had those. I'm talking about Captain Black, SWR and one other one I can't remember.
When I just started pipe smoking, H&H was the codger blend I liked the least. Didn’t like the flavour and it had a lot of rough edges. Really unpleasant even though I like licorice. Don’t know if it is improved technique or age on the leaf but I enjoy it now. I do enjoy PA and SWRA more. BTW I love VA/BURs so it wasn’t the burley.
I never use my return address and most of the packages are sent to a Mr Richard Head (you figure it out) just not to new people to make sure they get the package. Friends always get sent to Richard Head.So it was an elaborate hoax to get @AJL67’s address
