I know this title is strong but it's true and here's why.

1 I am a smoker. The anti smoker crowd yells about their rights with no regards to my rights.

2 I am a gun owner. The anti gun crowd wants my guns taken because they feel safer and it's their right with no regards for my rights to keep and bare arms even if the dreaded AK 47.

3 I hunt and on more than one occasion I have been verbally attacked and once physically attacked by animal rights groups with out regard for my rights.

For a country where we are supposed to be equal, we are not. It seems like a small few have more power over society and such than the rest of us.

Whats your opinion? And how could this be handled with out violating anyone's rights?

Just something to think about.

I fought for our country and because I'm a biker I have been classified as a domestic terrorist! I lost the ability to walk normally for my country just to come home and be insulted.

Run for office and change the laws
If only it was that simple. What you have to do is vote for those who would best represent you, even though those are few and far between.

How true it is, Wife and I ride a cruiser, and I smoke. So many times over the last decade, we have recieved snide looks from people. The children like to look at the bikes, and the Mammas or the Papas pull them away. Not many now mind you, just enough to let you know that there are Snobs out there. What I really find amusing is when I see the Husband or Wife staring longingly at the bike only to also be pulled away but the other half. lol
Odd thing is, during the work week, (Untill I was off, I work at a Mental Rehabilition Centre and my Wife works at a Seniors Home) we are thought well of and have many dealings with the so called, SNOBS. But, I fear, in this day-and-age, if one does not "Dress the Part", one does not fit in!

C'est la vie my friend.
As an avid smoker/gun enthusiast/hunter/carnivore/atheist/libertarian/confederate/guy who likes Dio better than Ozzy, I too have faced some harsh prejudices. But as they say, "Life is a bitch, and life is a whore, she ain't nothing less, and she ain't nothing more".
Just gotta try to make the best of a bad situation. Open carry and be a good Samaritan, so people see the gun and start mentally associating it with good people to counter what the TV tells them. Start a hunting club and have the club raise funds for the local humane society. Smoke, but be courteous of those who don't. In short, rise above the horrors of modern society and be the better person when you can.

who likes Dio better than Ozzy,

Sacrilege! How can you like that elf better than the Prince of Darkness?
I agree with the sentiments of the thread and I think jameral, pawpaw and kf5eqv all have great points. But I fear that the lawmakers are looking for new revenue streams and have their eyes on anything that (to them) seems like a vice. I stand up for my rights, but I'm not sure I'm being heard. A bit disheartening.
All this said, I expect that we can keep this thread on "an even keel", so to speak, and not let it devolve into a politically charged thread that ultimately gets closed.

Who doesn't like Dio better then Ozzy!

@nsfisher I ride too and I have pulled in to a town and been damn near ran out of town. Why I am heavily tattooed, long hair and beard. My harley is not shiny and new. It's a 1949 FHL complete with foot clutch and hand shifter. It's a junkyard rescue. She aint pretty. Just got her running this past summer but someday she will be a beauty queen.

Oh, let's not forget my favorite: walking down the street, mothers with their kids or unescorted females cross the street out of fear. I always got a chuckle out of this. If they only knew me for who I am and not what we look like.

My hair is in the process of growing out again. Up until '08, it was down to the middle of my back. My Triumph is always dirty and the rear wheel has more chain grease than shine, but hey, I RIDE mine! Last time water touched it was when I rode it home in the rain.
Sure, I get prejudged by people sometimes, but those who take the time to talk to me usually find out I'm a good friend to have and I protect my people (including my animal people) with fierceness equal to my kindness.

Get too off topic and this thread might get shut DOWN lol
If you feel discriminated against then just cope with it like most men. Drowning your concerns in fine alcohol and finer tobacco. Some perfectly cooked steak helps too. Especially if you hunted and killed it yourself with your own gun and smoked it with a smoky Latakia blend.
Always helped me.

I definitely support you on the smoking. When it comes to firearms though, I'm more of the thinking that they should only be for hunting purposes (I'm a hockey player, my fists are all the protection I need lol). As long as you get the tags for hunting and use the meat of what you hunt I have no problems with hunting. A co-worker of my stepdad's used to get deer tags every year and he'd send my stepdad home with a few steaks and some deer jerky. Best steaks I've ever had.

Is that all? Jees, there's a lot of people that could add a whole lot more to a list like that (wink).
When it all gets too much, just imagine you're wearing a soldier's uniform, sitting your tent in a war zone!

heh. I only have a problem when people want me to give up my actual rights and freedoms for the sake of their "feelings" or some populist ideology. I visit other places, such as the Cayman Islands, which are a British territory so, of course I don't bring my guns and I don't tell them how to live.
Here in the States though, my attitude is "μολὼν λαβέ!" and I don't necessarily feel obliged to obey laws that infringe upon my Constitutional freedoms. I do play nice and get the proper permits, though, now that they are available.
The Turnip is an '04, but I've added a 200 Tyre on the rear and a few mods to give it some pep in the acceleration department. A pic is the first post on THIS THREAD.
