I'm not purple yet, but congrats on your color change! This forum is very enjoyable and folks like you make it that way.
I believe that the stereotype 'American' comes from those who travel the world, with more money than brains, and expect everything to be handed to them, changed to fit their wants and just generally just act like JERKS. I have traveled quite a bit for work and cringed when I crossed paths with those 'people'.
So, on a positive note, please continue to share your beautiful country with us too. :clap:
