I am mad at Mr. Pease. I do not think he is being considerate of those who have to deal with cold weather and lack the ability to smoke inside.
I recently purchased four of his blends. I had read numerous articles praising his skills and had heard from a number of pipe smokers that he is an alchemist of the highest degree.
I live in suburban Maryland about 20 minutes outside of Washington DC. We are having a brutal winter. Being outside is painful, but this is where I smoke.
I ordered the blends from one of my favorite web sites, The Pipe Guys. The package arrived promptly on a day that it happened to be 17 degrees outside. I was able to resist the urge to rip open the tin and pack a bowl on that frigid January day, however I could not deny the temptation the following day. I proceeded to treat myself to a smoke of “Barbary Coast.” It was delicious and it smacked me upside the head with a solid does of Vitamin N!
The next day I ventured out into the frozen tundra to try “Maltese Falcon”. This blend blew me away! I wanted the taste permanently tattooed on my tongue.
Today it was a balmy 30 degrees outside and I packed myself a bowl of “Sextant.” The brother was three for three! He is as good as advertised in a world where most things can be chalked up to hype.
I just wish he would be more considerate of those who live in a climate that is not conducive to a nice smoke outside during the months of December through February.
Mr. Pease, try to be a little more considerate. Make a bad tobacco now and then. I have a feeling “Gaslight” will be worth the frostbite.

I love Rattray's. Stokkebye. Pipeworks & Wilke. Russ. And many others.
But if forced to choose one blender, it would definitely be Pease. His blends are at a whole different level -- IMHO.

Pease is a great blender. 90% of my cellar is GLP, and there are really only a few of his blends I don't care for.
Gaslight is amazing, and you're in for a treat with that one.

Oh, well, warmer days ahead. Look forward to that. Get the outdoor fire pit ready, and dust off the law chairs or deck chairs, etc.

Trailboss, thank you for the link. I might have to pick up some gear for the cold season.
mso489, you are correct. Warmer days are ahead. I must say, there is something peaceful about enjoying a pipe on a cold and gray winters day alone with your thoughts.

Maybe if you burn some mac&cheese, she wont notice the pipe......now, burn it right. Use whole tomatoes

and real grated cheese.

Hard to tell if this thread is about GL or about smoking in the house? I too am forbidden from smoking in the house and frankly the wife does not like the smell of my clothes and/or mustache when I have smoked. So I too smoke outside the house. Living in Northern Virginia, I am in the same frigid boat as MrSilentP (Yes, it has been -2 here). I smoke on the porches and often wish it were in a comfortable chair in my study, but filial bliss is worth the price to pay...

SWMBO prohibits smoking inside, so I too must enjoy my pipe elsewhere.
Can you smoke in the car? When it is cold, that is what I do. Mine is parked outside the house but close enough to the wireless router so I can bring out a laptop, sit in the driver's seat, fire up a bowl of something wonderful by Mr Pease, and surf the net in comfort. Sometimes I even turn the ignition to get some heat.

A circuitous way of praising the master, but your point is taken. I have been remiss in not smoking many of Mr. Pease's blends. I got involved with high-nicotine tobacco for 3 or 4 years, but that shine has gone. I bought about 10 pounds of his tobaccos last year,
