I am in BIG trouble!!!

I just fired up my first bowl of Escudo. Folded up a couple of coins and shaped them like a plug and in the meer it went. Pure bliss from the start. SP is having a 15% off sale on this I am doomed. I do have to say that SP shipping prices are far higher than other online retailers not sure of the reason for that. ::

That is probably why SP can have such good sales they make up for it by charging higher shipping costs.

P&C is charging $9.00 for Escudo. That is 91 cents cheaper than SP. Plus they are having a $25 lb of Lane Bulk for sale right now.

Regarding the shipping fees, if you buy $95+ from Smokingpipes, or $79+ from P&C, you get free shipping. You just need to save up your TAD orders and do them in large batches; i.e. monthly instead of weekly.

@conlegm I don't think you can get free shipping at SP if shipping to a P.O. Box. It does not come up as a shipping option and I have over $100. They want $13.90 as cheapest shipping option not paying that. I will go to P+C or 4noggins for my Escudo.

Lately I've been finding P&C has the better tobacco prices for my blends of choice. Not always, but lately. Unless SPC is having a sale of some kind, that is.

I would try giving them a call and ordering by phone, maybe the representative can figure something out.

I don't even think of placing an order unless its $100 which gets me free shipping from P&C, SP, or 4noggins.

As I recall, the Pipe Guys have free shipping at $50.00.

Old cheapies like me continually compute the shipping into the pricing on the pipes and tobacco, so it reduces

any competitive pricing the online retailers put up. I notice that tobaccopipes.com has a $4.99 limit on shipping

most orders, and Iwan Ries offers a minimal USPS shipping rate, so they always get a price comparison visit if they

have a particular pipe I'm looking for. If online retailers are pocketing any of the shipping fees they are probably

losing business in the process. SP did bring a pipe to a pipe show for me, saving me shipping, and gave me a

$5 show discount, so that gave me another good feeling about them. On the other hand, I'm not someone who

runs up $100 orders, for the most part, so that free shipping inducement is lost on me.

Appropriate that my TAD order came in from P&C on World Tobacco Day. Took advantage of the free shipping and got $80 worth of new stuff I haven't had. I've had great experiences with P&C, I love the online interface. Got a $100 order in the shopping cart, and I'm waiting to see what the June Monthly deal is before I pull the trigger.
