So yesterday I am sitting with my lap top minding my own business when I get an email that Rad Davis has new pipes on his site. I take a gander and my eye goes right to a black Lovat with my perfect dimensions. I could not resist so I pulled the trigger. This one is 6 inches long with a bowl height of 2", inner chamber is 3/4 and bowl depth is 1 3/4. It is a large group 5 but it only weighs 46 grams. The inlay is spalted tamarind.

Wow. That really is a beautiful blast with an amazing ring grain. I was on his site yesterday and he didn't have anything that tickled my fancy. Where do I get put on a mailing list for updates to his site? I've been wanting a Rad Davis ever since someone posted their recent Rad Davis PAD purchase a month or so ago. What's the price range on his blasts? He usually doesn't have many pipes up, so it's hard for me to gauge.

Photoman,
Lovat = round shank w/ saddle bit

Liverpool = round shank with taper bit

Lumberman = oval shank w/ saddle bit

Canadian = oval shank with taper bit

Thanks guys for all the nice comments, I do appreciate them.
Adam, also for a pipe to be considered a Canadian, it has to be at least 7" long, from what I have heard.
Steve, if you go to his site you can sign up for his mailing list. He has 4 pipes for sale now and the prices range from 365-475 for the blasts on there now.

roth, I think I heard the 7 inch thing from Brian on the radio show last week when he was discussing sizes. It would not surprise me that it is up to the maker.

I don't recall exactly, I'll have to go back and listen, but I think I had several disagreements with things Brian said on that episode regarding Canadiens, Lumbermen et al.

What Bigvan posted is what I have always thought to be true. Of course if I carve a pipe and say "I made this canadian" could anyone really argue regardless what it looks like?

6, thanks buddy.
Adam, no sweat, this place is like a cigar lounge, the conversations can and do go all over.
I always prefer a bare wood bowl, not a fan of pre carbed at all, but sometimes you don't have a choice. I am pretty sure though that all my future new pipes will come bare.
