Do any of you use a humidor to store opened tins? I'm looking for a good humidifier geared for pipe tobacco so I can have many open at a time. If not, what is a good way to store opened tins in a hot and dry climate that may not be finished for multiple months?

I have a couple of tobacco jars for some specific blends, a humidor or two for pipe tobacco. The rest is either in tins or jars.

The best idea I heard recently from a friend: he keeps a cooler to put open tins in, and has some humidity packs to keep them fresh. I may follow suit.

There’s really no need for a humidor.

I keep blends that I’m working through in small bail jars. Keeps for years no problems.

Keeping pipe tobacco in a container with a humification device just invites mold. Tins will keep tobacco fresh for a number of weeks or months if properly resealed. If you don’t use it within that time frame the jar it.

Big air-tight cooler (like a YETI or whatever) with some Boveda packs will work just fine. I have about 15ish tins open right now, that I'm kind of sampling through.

Yeah that's kinda what I like to do. I like to mix up my blends a lot but only smoke a bowl or two a day. I ordered a Boveda 62% pack to put in my humidor in lieu of the cigar humidor I have in it right now. I guess I'll see how it goes.

For open tins that I haven't jarred but access on a regular basis I use 2.5 gallon and 1.5 gallon Rubbermaid food storage containers with a small humidification device. The older 2.2 gallon and 1 gallon containers had better seals, but those are long gone. For longer term storage of open tins and for bulk that I haven't jarred I use a couple of coolers with a larger humidification device (specifically a Xikar 2 oz humidifier with the crystals removed and replaced with a dozen or so clear Jelly BeadZ and enough distilled water to fully hydrate the Jelly BeadZ every three months).
