I bet their next move is shrinkflation. They will move it to 50 gram tins to reduce sticker shock
My bet is that "perique is getting more and more expensive, and hand rolling coins as well". So they will keep the price (per kg/oz) as it is, or they will (again) change the recipe. In both cases, I am out

That is a pretty broad assumption. The price jumped 40 percent on one fell swoop literally days ago. There is nothing to suggest that its basic economics unless basic economics is greed. The market has not proven its a worthy price. If they could sell it a few days ago for 40 percent less Im not inclined to accept their markup.
I guess you’re right. It’s too soon to say the market will tolerate the price increase. Time will tell.

If they move units at the marked up price, they wil and the price won’t go down. If they can’t they’ll either pay to have it sit on their shelves, which I doubt, or they’ll lower the price, also known as having a sale.

I wonder how you’ll feel about the new price when your current stash of DC is gone and you’re unable to get any somewhere else for less.
Will you bite the bullet and pay or will you simply move on from DC? Again, time will tell.

This is why monopolies are bad for consumers.

Once mine runs out I will probably move on to something else unless everything is more expensive (which is always possible).

In the EU there are no tobacco sales so they would have to change the price point.

The stuff is good and it was priced above other HU blends. Now its priced above almost everything and not by a little. Its now more expensive than Peterson blends. Again, its good, but its not the best tobacco on earth. I guess kopp wants to pay for its new facilites with Directors Cut.

I think they have made a poor calculation. A number of folks Ive talked to have no interest in chasing this stuff at this price. Im sure some will but an awfal lot wont. It would have been smarter to raise it a little and spread increases across broader stock.

It's interesting how this thread started off with commiseration on the blend being changed to prevent cost increases, and everyone agreeing they would pay more to keep it the same. Now everyone is commiserating that it costs too much.

Pipe smokers, what a delightful customer base.

Unless they're stuffing an extra pound of Perique into those 100gm tins, it's not the Perique. The mark up on tobacco is huge. You're maybe buying a couple of bucks worth tobacco in the average tin.

Might be a marketing experiment.

Still comes out to less than a buck a bowl for me. Of course customs snagged my last order so make it 2 bucks a bowl.
