Howdy, y'all! My real name is Sam and I live just upriver from where holy Perique is grown. I'm 72, retired, USAF vet, never married (but got a wonderful GF!). I'm a licensed pilot, I collect firearms, and I enjoy good tobacco. Been smoking a pipe seriously for the last couple of years and I really enjoy it.

I'm looking for some guidance and input from experienced smokers, so I'll post my questions in the appropriate forum. Nice to be here!

Welcome from Salt Lake City! Have you ever gotten the chance to go to one of the perique manufacturers and smoke it from the barrel? Something i think would be fun if i ever make it out there!

Going down there is on my bucket list. I LOVE C&D's "The Beast", which is is a small batch run made from a hefty dose of Perique soaked in Rum. Nearest I can get to it on a regular basis is Holger Danske Black and Bourbon, which is loaded with bourbon, but is composed of Burley and Black Cavendish with no Perique.

Hi Sam and welcome from California 🌞 Happy to have you here, friend!
(And grateful for your service) 🇺🇸
Howdy, Bro! Thanks for the warm welcome from The Golden State! Been to San Diego a couple of times and loved it. Beautiful country out there.

I'm proud to be able to say that I served. It was an honor for me. I only did one four year hitch, but two of those years were in Germany, helping keep an eye on the Red Menace. That was back during Viet Nam - thank God I never got the "privilege" of going over there!

Thanks, proteus. One of these days I hope that GF and I can make a trip up y'all's way to see the fall foliage.
Litchfield hills area and the northwest corner is my favorite for that. Litchfield Distillery has whiskey for tasting and a tour. Then head about two hours east for Apple cider and hard cider from bf Clyde old Mystic. Steam engine powered mill. Mystic area is very nice. Lots of places in between for fall foliage like Talcott Mountain and tower. Hike up is uphill but the views are second to none.
