I suppose you are asking about drilling the draft hole.

There is drill bit that can drill around corners.

The name escapes me at present.
I have a couple of pipes that needed that type of drill bit.

Thats a Ser Jacopo Insanus.

They use a flexible drill bit to drill weird pipes like this. I imagine it as a tiny drill bit on a flexible shaft with some sort of way to guide it, but I've never seen it.

Their Insanus line doesn't really appeal to me, but I'm glad they make them. Theres 2 or 3 other shapes in the line, they are all nutty as could be, but I'd bet you $20 they all smoke like a dream !

Nah, pretty sure its miniature sand-hogs (briar-hogs) with the smallest tunneling equipment known to man.

I just showed my coworker that pipe a few hours ago. I guess it's to warm your ear or something, like the old remedy for ear aches was pipe smoke.

I LOVE it, I guess you can say I am a weird pipe smoker but the traditional pipe styles for me in my own point of view are just bland and boring and hold nothing form me. I am a huge fan of the freehands and just the off the wall pipe designs. Now this is just how I see pipes but that one is just AWESOME to me....

Watch Ebay very closely, you may find one for half that price. Thats probably as good as it gets with an Insanus, they just dont make many of them (for good reason probably).

As far as being for decoration, I'd say thats absolutely incorrect. Ser Jacopo has a strong reputation for quality, and the dozen or so SJs I've owned have been immaculately built.

Now if you are MAN ENOUGH to smoke that thing in public is a different question.....
