How do you clean a meer lined pipe....or, do you?

I just picked up a LHS Ultrafine 14K Meer-lined that is a beautiful pipe but its the only lined pipe Ive ever dealt with.

There is enough carbon in the bowl to make it black and slightly rough. What should it look like to be right?

Treat it just like a meer...no cake allowed to build up.
So, after every smoke, I use a paper towel and swipe out the carbon in the bowl. It'll vastly slow down any buildup.

The paper towel can have some of your "spirits" ( Vodka, Gin, etc.) near the end that helps eliminate that cake buildup. The insides should be smooth as glass, and black in color. Enjoy!

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I could use alcohol on a meerschaum as I would a briar. Excellent thread.
