After an intense immersion into pipe smoking in which I amassed 25 pipes in a little over a year, I made a pact with myself that I would only buy a few more pipes. I wanted a Peterson 701 and also a P-lip and this Kildare Silver Mounted satisfied both of those. Picked up some Haunted Bookshop and Pegasus which I have never had before and also grabbed another tin of Sweet Killarney.

The only solution I know is to diconnect your internet.

As time goes by I purchase fewer pipes. Mostly because I have become more selective and becoming more selective means fewer pipes are of interest and those that are cost more than I feel like spending.

....after saying this I will probably buy one tomorrow lol

Maybe look into trading away some of the pipes and tobacco you don’t enjoy. It saves space in the cellar and brings you more of what you like. But even after a great trade, I just bought another pound, so what do I know?

How to treat PAD:

Realize you only reach for a few pipes. Understand why you reach for those. Get rid of the rest. Only buy pipes that meet the same criteria as the ones you kept.
Where’s the fun in that? The “D” is for “disease/disorder”.
Embrace the obsession!

I’m three years in, 25/yr sounds about right…but I like getting old affordable estates up and running.

Same with TAD.

Being honest with yourself is the hardest thing.
Hard but respectful disagree.
Of course each piper’s journey is different and I respect that but the solution offered here takes all the curiosity and wonder away from it. I want to wander around the world of pipes and tobacco. The wandering is the point for me. Hopefully I’ll have some great smokes along the way but the great smokes aren’t the point for me.
Of course this is coming from a person that has 100 open jars so… 🤪

As I mentioned, I smoke nearly all the pipes I have and each one has "spoken" to me in some manner. Whether it is the shape, or color, or name, or its uniqueness. Some I have personal

I also figured out what tobaccos I like. What I've purchased and haven't cared for, and there haven't been many, I haven given away at our pipe club meetings.

There's no treating...just has to run its course.

For me it was never really a steady thing...always seemed to occur in flare ups and then go dormant for a while.

I'll never say never, but I am pretty sure it's mostly finished its course for me at this point...both PAD and TAD. I'll probably buy a little more tobacco, but probably not any more pipes.
