I restored an old Grand Slam a few years ago that was in sad shape. It had two cracks in the bowl but was otherwise in fair condition. I couldn't get the stem out of the pipe either. I filled the bowl with alcohol and let it set over night and then I managed to get the stem out. At that point the stinger unscrewed with only a minor struggle. I couldn't see smoking the pipe with that stinger in it, so I gave it to Al, (ssjones) nana
