Are you removing the stem/stinger from the shank or the stinger from the stem?

It is a screw in connection. I would drip some alcohol at the stinger/stem junction and let sit for 24 hours. You can do it from both directions. Then try to heat the end of the stem(don't burn it or melt it)with a heat gun and try to unscrew the stinger. You can put the stem in a padded vise and turn the stinger with a small wrench. Do it carefully !!
Has worked on 3 of my Grand Slams. Hoppes

A very gentle heating of the stinger to soften any solidified gunk, tars or oils first? I can see where heating may be extremely risky to the condition of the stem! ‼

Let us know what happens; what you did, etc. please :) Since I’m gearing up to start dipping my toes into restoration work I’m devouring everything.

YouTube is supposedly going to cancel all non-profitable channels around Dec 10th 2019. Tobacco pipes? I don’t have a good feeling about the channels that only really show restorations getting the green light for adverts, much less “Stuff & Things” type channels.

An alcohol soak is definitely helpful, likewise running an alcohol dipped cleaner thru the stinger into the tenon and let it sit. A pair of vise grips on that flat sided section can often get it unscrewed.
It's easy to crush the aluminum with pliars, etc. But, fear not, get a drill index and with the right sized bit, you can hand drill (in a pin vise) the aluminum out of the tenon, it's pretty soft and the bit makes short work of it. Go slow!

Those are pretty restrictive (even for me!). Hard to clean, can't run a cleaner into the bowl (probably not even thru the stinger from the button end.
I can see that, thanks. I have noticed a more restrictive yet dryer smoke. I haven't opened any tins of straight VA's so maybe it's better as a sipper?

The stinger would definitely reward a sipping style. But the cleaning tradeoffs are not worth the benefits. That's why on estate Grand Slams, Patent Era Sasienis, etc., the stinger was removed and tossed long ago. Most owners found them less than desirable.
