I work in the main lab quite a bit too (Chemistry, Hematology, Serology).

Cob, my dad ran the non-pathology side of the lab at a small community hospital.. When I was a kid, that was a great job, very varied and challenging. Now....quite different.
I hate "air fresheners" though. It's just perfume. Covers up, doesn't remove odors. To me, they are the white noise generators of the olfactory.
One man's Aroma is another man's Odor.
Different is an understatement ... change is the only constant in my field.
For example, the first time I performed any PCR testing, it required a separate room, many steps and lots of time.
Now, I can do random access, real-time PCR in under 2 hours.
As for the horrible smells though ... no change! LOL
