My private messages on this forum have an incorrect time stamp. It seems to be GMT or something. Is there a way to change how this appears?

Why?

We are a global forum.

Time stamping based on UTC (Universal Time, Coordinated) in the PM's obviates the need to know the location of the sender or recipient to determine when a message or response was sent or responded.

For example, if I send a message from CO at 0630 MDT (UTC 1230H) to a recipient in London who responds at local time of 1330H (UTC 1330H), the UTC time stamps will reflect that the recipient replied in 1 hour, not 7 hours. I do not need to know, or may not know, that the response was from London.

Well, when someone sends me a PM or replies to one of mine, I don't really care what time it was at his house when he sent it. I would like to know what time it was at MY house when he sent it. That is normal for every forum I have ever been a member of. That includes lots of international forums too.

I just thought that maybe THIS forum could accommodate such and I couldn't find it.

I don't see anywhere on the Forum profile or pipesmagazine.com profile to change the time zone.

I signed up so long ago, I don't recall if there was a place to chose your time zone. It may just default to GMT?

My Outlook email program tells me what time notifications were received, but they never match what the site says.

Normally in WordPress you set one time zone for the whole site, and that should correspond to the settings on your server, which you may/may not have the ability to change. For this to work with user profiles, bbPress would have to keep track of your time zone and +/- from the time zone to which the site is set. I did not see anything that suggests it has this capacity at this time, nor any field in the user profile for local time zone.
