My smokes are usually around 90 minutes as well, and I don't feel like I'm smoking particularly slow. Once in a while I manage to finish a bowl in 45 minutes, and then I'm like, "what happened?" I may have a tendency to overpack, and I suppose it's to be expected that more tobacco takes longer to burn.

And it's not that I have a stop watch ready, but I often smoke while watching movies or series, and that's how I know how long it takes.

Well I can’t say I’m surprised at the way this went but it’s been fun. Thanks for the thoughts fellas.

As I said, not trying to get a competition started (yeah I have several relights; don’t care to try to stop it from going out or I’d dry it more first) but trying to help new folks out if they wonder “am I smoking slow?”. When I started I didn’t have time to smoke often so experience came very slowly and I was sometimes bummed at all the “you’ll just have to figure it out” comments. I just wanted to try and give people a chance to maybe see more specific details about how other people smoke.

This is pretty similar to my experience in some ways. The timing thing is something I track just because I’m a spreadsheet kind of guy so I do a lot of notes when I smoke. It’s interesting to look back on and see how it changes over time too.

Well, I've never actually had the urge to time how long it takes to smoke a bowl. Slow is whatever it takes to comfortably enjoy a good smoke and be able to eek all the subtle nuances out of the smoldering tobacco.
Personally, much faster than that and I miss the subtleties and usually manage to sting the tongue a mite!
I believe one highly experienced form member here described it as 'sipping'.

Well it's been a little while since I had a tin of Escudo open so I'm trying to remember how big the coins are, I recall they are a bit bigger than a Peter Stokebye Bullseye coin, so I'm thinking one Escudo coin might fill a Dunhill group 2 bowl?

I'd probably suck that back in about 20 min, maybe push 25 minutes if I was feeling particularly leisurely. No tongue bite, but the pipe would get a bit warm.
