Wow, I feel like an outsider. I'm something of a shut-in for various reasons, and I'm sadly unmarried (when the term meant something) so I'm pretty free to smoke as much as I want, which, from what I'm reading above, is probably too much. I smoke primarily in my study where I work on reading, writing, occasionally drawing, and just plain meditate and listen to music. In the evenings I smoke in the dining room where there is a TV/DVD setup. I'm the caretaker for my mom who doesn't have any objections and says she rather likes the smell of pipe tobacco--it reminds her of her father. I do not smoke outside of my study, however, when there are visitors, which is rare.
I'm a little surprised that there are combination cig/pipe smokers. I kicked the cig habit (about 7 months ago) and took up the pipe a month later--absolutely no semblance in the cigarette and the pipe, and I wish I discovered the joy of smoking a pipe decades ago, and have absolutely no desire for cigs since.
My problem these days is rotating my pipes--I just can't leave any of them alone, I love all of them! (I've got Petersons, two Ashtons, and Nordings). And I just ordered a Peterson Dublin Castle today, so another problem is PDA, although I try to keep the number of pipes down to ten.
