Not to get off topic, how is the Stokkebye bulk sold? Sealed bags that can be left for aging or need to be jarred?
It generally depends on how much you order. Usually comes in a ziplock bag from the company you buy it from as they buy bulk and sell it in lesser amounts to the consumer.
Maybe the 5 pound mark would come in a factory bag, but it would still need long term storage plan.
Will need to be Jared or put into Mylar.

You must smoke like a chimney with those wicked TAD posts I've seen of your cellar... if that sweet honey hole only puts you at a decade, sir... you may have a problem 😂😂
6-10 bowls a day, over a 10 year period, my 160+ pound stash should fit the bill for 10 years. (This number does not factor in RYO tobacco)
A lot depends on weather.
Right now still trying to overcome some weird sort of allergy or something….

I guess it’s a good thing I just got my last $95.02 order in the mail today!

I went deep (for me, a mere pittance relative to many) on a few Sutliff blends (well, one blend and a few blending varieties) somewhere between 15-20lbs, but I also have 1-2lbs of most each of my faves also.

I’m a little leery of going too deep on account of my tastes changing as much as they have over the almost 3yrs I’ve been at this.
Knowing I’d like to go deeper rather than wider tempers the urge to try lots of new things, but knowing more of what general varieties I prefer makes me more comfortable branching out.

Bottom line: I don’t think I have enough, and it’ll probably be years before I do. As long as I stay within what I can afford at any given moment I’ll keep buying.

Because of exactly that, I tend to cellar wider than deep. I have maybe 1 lbs of something I really like (Luxe Bullseye) but usually I try to get about 5 tins of each blend I like.

A lot of joy in pipe smoking for me is the diversity.

This is me too. I love cellaring wide. If I really like something, like you, maybe 8 oz or a bit more.

Choosing from a wide variety is a lot of fun for me. I love having tons of options. I haven’t found any tobaccos I don’t like and love switching around very frequently.

I know I run the risk of not getting around to trying something, finally getting to it and not being able to buy more because it has passed out of stock.

too bad it doesn't remain like when you cellar it. I personally don't care for the loss of the grassy and hay notes. Nothing I can do about it, but I know with each passing day, the tobacco I like is losing more than it is gaining, other than potential economical value.

I loved going to my favorite tobacco shop and enjoying the variety in the display cases, walking out the door with my tobacco. I will greatly miss the fresh tobacco, newly purchased and taken out of the tin to smoke. Everything ends up turning black and stinky in this life, sooner or later. Today, for example, I drank coffee with expired milk, and thanks to COVID, I couldn't detect it. Hahahaha.

I used to have 150lbs of everything under the sun. After taking a break from the pipe and selling off 90% of my stock (most of which I’m contented to’ve done so, and some of which I regret), I now have roughly 40-50lbs of stuff that I know I love and smoke regularly. I’ll buy the one off “short-runs” of C&D or the biannual delicious VaPer that is offered outta Framingham. However, mainly I re-up on my beloved Haunted Bookshop and some others.
It’s great when you finally realize that you’ll never smoke it all & to just do maintenance on your stock as appropriate. 👍☕
