I have just about a hundred left still downsizing. I have around 20 that I rotate in and out monthly. 30 or so in the to do box and I collect Custom-Bilts so I very rarely smoke them. So it's a little of both for me collecting & smoking.

I have my first round draft picks about 30(?) that are smoked heavily and in constant rotation. Sable put it nicely when he said rotation of rotations. About 50 were my grandfathers and most of those are gently smoked with some regularity. If you see a softy bit on any pipes I've posted, they were my grandfathers. Of all the pipes I've bought, I bought them with the intention of smoking them, with the exception of estate lot buys where I bought a pile of pipes just to score a few gems in the bunch. The extras are given away. I'm not sure exactly how many I have. I'm scared to give an official count. Comfortably over 200 briars and I still want more.
Hi, my name is Dave and I have P.A.D.

I have five briars and one cobbit. One of the briars doesn't get smoked much at all--its just too small a bowl. I also don't smoke the cobbit--I mean, I have and I will again, but it just doesn't happen often.
So I have a steady rotation of four briars--1 for aros, 1 for virginias and VaPer's, 2 for English. Looking to pick up some cobs that I'll actually smoke next. Maybe a bag of MM seconds.
Edited--just to point out that I smoke about twice a week, so this is sufficient for now. I'm at a crossroads now--do I keep filling out the stable with decent factory pipes (Sav, Peterson, Stanwell, etc...) or do I lay out some real cash for one great artisan pipe? With how seldom I smoke, I'd rather have half a dozen great pipes than a few dozen good ones.

I don't have a lot of pipes, and I don't smoke that much. Which allows me to only smoke the ones I've grow to really like.

I have 12 pipes, only smoking 4-5 of them. A bit silly, right ? :)

I have three pipes that I intend to sell just because I wanted to pick the best finish out of a limited run, otherwise I smoke 100% of the pipes that I buy.

The longest a pipe will wait to be used is probably about six months (due to my irregular smoking habits and not an excess of pipes).

I have about 20 pipes total, most of them cobs. I have another 10 cobs on backup. Only my General doesn't get smoked: I seldom have time for a 2-3 hour smoking session.

I have 17 briars. out of them I smoke about 8 regularly. The rest I sell so I can replace the one I have with better grade, name and look. I want to have a rotation of 7-8 that ill smoke, which shouldn’t be hard as I smoke a bowl a day.

I do the rotations of rotations deal over time, depending on what tobacco I'm in the mood for & maybe where I will be smoking it.

I think I own about 60 pipes. I regularly smoke about 10 or 12 cobs, and 15 or 20 briars and meers. I haven't been at this 2 years, yet. I no longer lust after pipes, like I did when I first started. I appreciate them and think that it would be nice to own any of several artisan or factory pipes, but I know that I have what it takes to enjoy my tobacco right now.

For awhile there, a lot of the fun of piping was getting what I thought was a 'good buy' on ebay. I did get mostly good buys too. The only brand new, first grade pipes I've ever bought were MM Meerschaums.

I smoke cobs about 60% of the time, and I smoke burley blends more often than any other.

I have 12 pipes: 2 churchwarden cherrywood, 3 oak/hardwood, 3 briar, 4 cobs. I smoke all regularly except the 2 churchwardens. Churchwardens are more of a fall campfire smoke for me. So they will get more use this season!

I have just north of 100 pipes and bought all but one for smoking (except a mere with an intricate dragon etched on it as a form of decoration to my dragon-themed home office). I have about 25 that are in routine rotation, the rest either will eventually get sold, or are "pretty" but don't smoke all that well which are a decoration on my workbench. At the very unassuming beach house there are 6 pipes that are in full rotation but only get smoked as one bowl/day and only when I can get there, which is currently not very often.

I'm pretty sure I'm around the 40-50 pipes mark. About 25% don't really get smoked. My Grabow Freehand is just too damned big to smoke often, a few of the others just don't smoke that great, or have an uncomfortable stem, or something similar going on. The others are because I am a little OCD, in that they were purchased for "backups". I had a line on some NOS Grabows a while back; when I bought one and really liked it, I would buy a second as a backup. As a consequence, I have two old Savoys in regular use, and an unsmoked "spare". Likewise, a Royal Duke bulldog in use, and one in reserve. I mean, hey, really, what if I want to go buy a nice Grabow bulldog in 20 years, and they're just not available anymore? Huh? WHAT THEN! WHAT IF I JUST CAN'T FIND ONE? THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Oh God, I gotta go check on my spare pipes...

I currently have 30 or so pipes, I smoke about 15 of them regularly. The other 15 pipes not in my rotation fall in various categories, some I'm going sell mainly because my taste in pipes has changed. A few others like my grandfathers Graybow and the pipe that belonged to my father-in-law only get smoked when I'm feeling nostalgic.

I smoke all my pipes, some more often than others. I think pipes should be bought to be smoked and appreciated. Looked at and admired while smoking and enjoying. For me a pipe is a big part of the mood, the tobacco and the state of mind. I allways pick up and smoke the pipe that I feel like.

Call me crazy but I smoke all of my pipes, it changes with the season and some blends I don't smoke very often, but they all get their share of action. I don't see the point in having pipes and not smoking them, unless it was something I had crazy sentimental value attached to.
