It’s money I could have better used in other ways and it takes up a lot of space. The funny thing is, until I assembled all of it to pack for the move I didn’t realize just how much I had accumulated. Pallets that I had forgotten about kept turning up in the recesses of the closets.
Compared to other cellars it’s not that big, but that’s not the point. For me it’s an excessive amount and I’m not fond of excess.
When things settle down I’ll start selling it off. At least I stopped buying several years ago.
Part of the process of moving involved getting rid of stuff I don’t need or no longer use. That process really changed my mindset. Every time I let go of some “treasure” I felt happier and freer, more right sized. More sane, more anchored to reality. I’m not my stuff.
I’ve always been a collector and enjoy the hunt. But now I want better rather than more.
Love this. Makes so much sense. Such a sober analysis of tobacco hoarding from your own perspective. Thanks for sharing.

A few years back, when this question was posed here for the umpteenth time, I calculated my average pipe holds 3 grams of averaged tobacco. I then calculated that I had enough tobacco to last me, at current consumtion rates, to age 92. But not to worry, because I have enough cigars to last until age 103. The real crisis is that I only have enough Carnation Malted Milk to last until this November.
A little off subject but.... The last time I asked at the grocery story if they have any malted milk powder, they didn't even know what it was! I've got plenty of malt so not worried about it. Running out of Boraxo is my concern. I think I'll have to make it myself. Oh, and I keep about 20 or so pounds of tobacco all the time. puffy

Yes. One can spend their whole life organizing and maintaining their "stuff." I see this all the time in real estate. People die and leave their children an enormous house full of things. The kids will grab a few sentimental objects and sell the rest in an estate sale. It's just stuff.
