I’m planning a garage conversion into a man cave in the next couple of weeks. At that time, I’ll probably be moving all of my tobacco. If that happens, I intend to take an inventory and maybe even get it written down or into the computer.

Notice how loose the commitment is. I hope to see it through, but I’ll also be happy with a new chair and an ashtray, so who knows.

I started smoking pipes and joined this site in late 2012/early 2013. There were guys on here then that made it seem like the frickin' arms race between Nato and the Eastern Bloc. I bought as much as I could. The more I tried, the more I liked, the more I bought. Honestly I have no idea what I have, specifically, but I know it all made it to TN from WA when I moved. I tried to get on tobaccocellar.com to see exactly, but it won't let me in for some reason.

I have 325 to 330lb. Probably 100-150 different blends, but only a handful in the 10lb plus dept, and maybe 15 or 20 at the 5lb range. It is enough for 10 lifetimes at the rate I smoke, and so I figure it will last my son and I til we are D. E. D. dead. lol.

I have roughly 90lbs in my cellar. My top 5 by weight are:

1. Newminster 400
2. Rattray's Marlin Flake
3. Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake
4. Escudo
5. Rattray's Old Gowrie

I have a VERY wide cellar (I actually don't know how many) which contains many blends I've never tried. I'm happy to purchase tobaccos I may like based on reviews or palates with similar tastes to mine and cellar it for later. A tin here or there will simply mean variety later which is fine by me. If I end up with duplicates of a blend I don't care for it'll be trade stock or sold to purchase something I do want.

About 30 blends.many of which I probably won't smoke again. About 10 years supply. But I only smoke one or two bowls a week! So not a great amount.

A bit of prospective for how/why I cellar generally which I think is relevant to the conversation...Another gentleman I admire from another pipe smoking forum I follow often refers to his cellar as his, "401T". For those who don't get the reference it is a play on words referring to the 401K retirement accounts. He views his cellar as part of his retirement plan. He intends to smoke a lot more in retirement and he expects that the value of his cellar will grow in time. So, if he doesn't get to smoking some of it then he will have blends to sell or trade. The desire for those cellared blends is only likely to increase with age. Now this may or may not apply to the width so much the depth of one's cellar, but either way it can be viewed as an asset expected to appreciate in value with time. This applies both to the smoker and the investor. Just something to consider.

I've actually seen him buying tobacco. I thought he was going to need a shopping cart after leaving a lounge one day. LOL

I've got a good variety, and I have enough to last me a long time.

I m kinda interested how many has a seasoned pipe smoker stashed?

My wallets already is sad with my purchases. But hey there are so many different aros as different vape english latikia and so on.
Sometimes I think I will never have the time to finish all. And I m still around 10 or so ;)
I just counted and I currently have 89 different blends represented in my cellar, and approximately 60 total pounds. (A number of these blends are represented by only a tin or two.) Which, depending on how my smoking habits change, will last somewhere between 5 years and 40 years! At my current rate, though, it’s about a 10-year supply. As I’m already 61…maybe that’s a lifetime supply…?
