I am about a year in and have tried 35 different blends. I have another 12 waiting in the wings. Most cellared for me so far are MacBaren Old Dark Fired and Dunhill MM965.

4 years of pipe, and probably about 50 blends tried. I have a rough system after the first bowl where i will...
A. Give it away if i despise it.

B. Cautiously try it again a week later in a trusty and consistent pipe if it was below or just on average.

C. Excitedly try it in any and every pipe with various single malt/tea/coffee drink combinations if i liked the first bowl.
If I really liked it after the whole tin or pouch is done, i add it to my 'keep in rotation' list and buy more. (this is all in my head, not on a spreadsheet). So far i only have 8 blends that i would confidently cellar in bulk. I really enjoy the trial and error experimentation though...

My problem would be that I didn't keep track of what I smoked, back when I was young and starting out. I'd guess well north of 200 blends.

I have tried about 20 blends over a 6yr period. And I smoke about a bowl a day, so I wouldn't consider myself dabbling. Many were repeated over the years, e.g. FVF, Stonehaven, MB Navy Flake, and RM Red Virginia. I have well over a hundred different blends in my cellar. Slow and steady wins the taste!

5 blends a year sounds like a nice leisure sampling. Being new I have tried about 20 in the past four months, but have settled on my gotos and am now at a leisure trying pace.
Till now my log is in my head, but on a folded piece of paper I have my notes on my last 10 bulk purchases. Advice I got here. I just skipped the fancy notebook part of the advice out of laziness over a trip to the store. Plus the cost of a notebook would take away from that extra 1oz sample I could buy. :P haha
Off to my tobacconist today to stock up on my favorite blend.
