1 cutter I rarely use.

3 lighters. 2 Duponts and an Old boy

There are a few cheapos around of course.

Im trying not to acquire others but I really like the Dupont L-1's with a pipe nozzle.

I seldom smoke cigars, I absolutely love Nicaraguan / Honduras / Cuban cigars with no name which are as good as the brand name ones.

The way I see it and you can correct me, Cuba, Honduras and Nicaragua all have fertile soles and all 3 have a tropical climate. Tobacco leaves are tobacco leaves.

I have about 25 cigars in my humidor from Cuba (no name ones) and I cut them with a double edge razor blade and light them up with a Zippo lighter. Why invest in a cigar cutter when my Feather Japanese double edge blades that I shave with do a very good job at cutting the end of a cigar.

I have one expensive Prometheus lighter that got sent back for service and worked for a while then stopped again. So it sits in its case. Since that I have used cheap convenience store lighters that never fail. I recently found this old cheap thing from 25 years ago in a drawer. Still works.IMG_1459.jpeg

I have about 100 Clipper lighters that I bought a couple years ago. I have a ton of butane to fill them up... I rather use a bic, but I've committed myself to clippers for the rest of my days.

As for cutters, many have came and gone through the years... I have always done a poor job of keeping good ones around. I have an old dull v cutter that P&C sent me left. I've been saying I need to buy me a good cutter forever. Maybe someday I will.

I did buy a Ronson torch lighter a while back, I bought it because of a recommendation I saw on this forum... I believe it was Sig bragging on 'em. It worked well until it ran out of fuel, I've never been able to fill it. Maybe I'll post a thread and get yall to help me figure it out.

I've always just used a soft flame to light cigars, but a torch does do a better job.

I never went the super pricey route with lighters but I always hear bad things about Prometheus lighters. These Eagle lighters are good, I have a couple laying around. They work even better with better butane. Had to set them on low when I added the better butane.

I hear good things about the Clipper lighters. Never owned one yet.

If I could do it all over again I probably would have gotten a few good soft flame lighters. Torches are great but just have to make sure not to get that flame too close to the cigar.

They're dependable... I have some I've filled up more times than I can count, still working well.

They make a plastic and a metal version. The ones I have are plastic, but the metal ones might last forever.

How are the Xikar’s? Always wanted to get one.
In my experience, EVERY torch lighter from EVERY manufacturer will fail at some point. I've had every brand too. Some will end up spewing butane from one of their orifices, but the most common cause of failure is the ignition system. I buy Xikar because they have a lifetime warranty and they honor it. I used the warranty just last year on a lighter that I bought in 2018. No questions asked.
