Artist, not really, my wife is an artist, she can draw and, when she was younger, had some works published in some small sci-fi/fantasy rags. She doesn’t do it much anymore, which always makes me sad. She has real talent.
As for me, I have a passable singing voice, can strum some chords and knock my way around a bass. I played trumpet as a kid and can read music, not great with bass clef though. So, I can fumble about on a piano, but best to limit my left hand to dead simple chords.
I can draw a little, I’m not bad, but I’m not great.
So, no, I’m not really an artist.
This wide range of skill in many areas and lack of expertise in any of them use to bother me some.

If something simple breaks on my car, I can usually figure out how to fix it, but I’m probably not going to do an engine rebuild any time soon.
I can ride a motorcycle and shoot a gun. I can do a little bit of a lot of different things. I look around at the people who are masters of their craft and I am envious, then I look at other people who can’t do jack and realize I can do quite a bit.
Oh, and I can make a pretty drinkable beer…so there! :P

Unless mountain biking and white water kayaking, gathering lots of useless funny quotes, or singing a little off-key in the car is art, I am pretty out of my elements in this dicussion.

I'm a musician with no band, trying to make it. I'll die chasing the dream, even if I never make it.

I played alto sax through to high school, then switched over to baritone sax. I also was yearbook photographer, and still enjoy photography on ocassion. I do leatherworking and paracord braiding to keep me busy in my down time. Tried picking up guitar, but just wasnt learning at a pace to keep me interested. Have a bass guitar around somewhere that I never got around to learning either...

I used to draw and paint, then life took me in a different direction, I appreciate art, I have 2 original paintings done by AD Greer, roses, he did paintings for Will Rogers, Lindberg, and pres Linden Johnson, when my children were young I made them go to art galleries with me, tried to show them apprection for art, I have several limited addition signed prints by Blue Dog man , I love the old Paris scenes and have a few originals by some not so great artists, but to me they are great The old cajun

See... I believe that anything that you have a knack for, and are good at is an art form. All the trades and crafts. Riding motorcycles, and sailing/boating are definitely forms of are. I mean if dance is an art form and you can make a cycle, or boat move gracefully then they are definitely art;) Wow lawrence.... that's a huge accomplishment. I had a full ride to my choice of 3 top art schools for photography and blew it because i wanted to drink and chase tail, but thats an entire new thread. We are artists, website builders, published artists and poets. So again, it makes perfect sense that we are pipe smokers. Just learning to smoke a pipe is an art form. And our main tool is definitely a beautiful functioning sculpture. We are among the brightest and most creative lot on the planet and i am proud to be part of this fellowship:)
