I have been smoking a pipe for nearly 70 years. My Grandfather started me out when he made me my first pipe. I had a hard time keeping it going because I wasn't allowed to have matches and he got tired of me asking him for a light! I think I was about 5 at the time. I am 75 now, and a pipe has pretty much always been in my pocket. When going to school, I kept my pipe at home and would enjoy it when I got home while doing my homework. My fondest memories of my childhood was sitting with my grandfather smoking our pipes watching the sunset after a full day on the ranch not saying a word just watching the glow of the sun setting. Times were better then.
That is a beautiful story!

I started dabbling with pipes when I was in my mid to late twenties. Now in my 30s I've really started to become a pipe smoker. I don't think I'll ever hit the 70 year mark for pipe smoking experience!

I have been smoking a pipe for nearly 70 years.

I imagine they were…. But even today that’s an awesome story, glad you’re here!

Say, with 70 years of experience, perhaps you can help us out a bit. You see, this other fella on the forum (who’s only been smoking for 50 years) has been telling everyone how to do things properly - but some of his advise seems a bit dodgy.

But, but, but smoking.. it kills .. it will harm the kids... it will stunt your growth... you won't live very long...

Just kidding and welcome to the forum.
Here's to many more years of pipe smoking joy to come
I was thinking along the exact same lines! haha

Welcome from the Central Coast of California!

Please put your location in your Profile, as people are forgetful.
Why:
That will save questions in the future as to where you live when you later mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc. In many instances that saves time for those who read your posts. It cuts down on posts or PMs asking where you are.
How:
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. province, etc.

I'll need name, number, and address, Sir, as Children & Youth Services would like to confiscate you and put your family through two years of parenting classes before letting you meet again, once a month, under supervision.

Haha, wow, I'm echoing the others but that is one enviable story!

You hear every now and then of a fella who sneaked off with one of his dad's cigars at 9 years old, or who started smoking cigarettes regularly at 14... but to be launched into a proper pipe smoking career by your grandfather at 5!

It's about time you joined us here ;-)

Welcome, from NE Wisconsin.
