How far down?

Pretty much all the way down most bowls for me, unless my mood is off, when smoke'in my pipes my mood is never really off

All the way down to the gray ash, then I pour the ashes and dottle on my tongue for desert. No not really, It all depends, but 7 of 10 times I smoke it down to gray ash. Exceptions might be something wet causing too much gurgle, foul tasting, bad load I'm sick of messing with,etc.

Well i have smoked my 1st bowl of a Balkan mix today and got it all down to ash but when i smoke my aromatics they don't smoke all the way down so for me it's what i'm smoking as opposed to how i'm smoking it why this is i don't know if anyone could shed light on the matter i'd be gratefull of any advice.

Aromatics tend to smoke wetter than non cased blends. You will often get a wet dottle in the bottom with them.

Thanks unclearthur, now i know it's not me dribbling euuuk. Is it the flavourings that cause the aromatics to smoke wet, causing a fermenting kind of reaction to the tobacco meaning like squeezing the juice out of an orange kind of thing.

Depends on the tobacco. Some burn great all the way down, but others get too wet. If I end up fighting with it to the point that I'm no longer enjoying the smoke, I'll let that last bit go unburned.

Right there with you. I find that large bowls of aromatics (CBW, 1Q, etc.) difficult to burn all the way through without several relights.
