EDIT— disregard the advice below, I was thinking of Dr. Grabow, NOT Kaywoodie… with regard to the “Adjustomatic” patent.
If it is marked “Ajustomatic”, you should be able to complete rotate the stem 360 degrees to re-align it. Screw it all the way into the pipe shank, and when you hit the resistance point, continue to slowly rotate the stem against the resistance. It will continue to feel tight, but the stem side of the stinger mechanism is designed to continue rotation if needed. That’s why they patented it as “ajustomatic”.
Note— Do not attempt this if the pipe does not bear the adjustomatic logo on the shank!
